Jessore Science and Technology University (JSTU) is a government-financed public university in Bangladesh.[2] This is the fourth public university in Khulna Division and the first public university in Jessore. It was established in 2008 and started four-year undergraduate courses from the 2008-2009 session.

Faculties

History

Jessore Science and Technology University (JSTU) started functioning from the 2008-2009 session. It is expected to achieve excellence in higher education, research and development in science and technology. The first batch students of all departments were started from 10 June 2009 in the Ambot-tola campus with 205 students in the following four departments: Aquaculture & Fisheries, Computer Science & Information Technology, Environmental Science & Health Management, and Microbiological Science.

In 2009, JSTU added Nutrition & Food Technology, Industrial & Production Engineering, Applied Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Petroleum & Mining Engineering, Genetic Engineering & Bio-technology. In 2010, Pharmacy was added.[3]

Administration

Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sarker, a most senior professor of Bangladesh Agricultural University was appointed the first vice chancellor and project director of this university.[4] On April 2009, Prof Dr. M. Abdus Sattar, who is one of the well-recognized professors of the department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, and former treasurer of Islamic University, Kushtia, was appointed as the new vice-chancellor.[5]
